Elliot Baker presents as mild-mannered, observant, and conflict-avoidant. He is highly accommodating, at times to a fault. He tends to minimize his own needs and comfort in order to avoid conflict, leading him to being overworked or taken advantage of by others. He often has trouble expressing his own needs and has difficulty believing that he deserves attention.

He is highly sensitive to shifts in tone and mood and often notices discomfort in others before they voice it. Rather than confront tension directly, Elliot tends to adapt himself around it, becoming quieter, more agreeable, or removing himself entirely.

Elliot has difficulty sustaining anger toward people he loves. When hurt, he is more likely to search for an explanation that absolves the other person than to hold them accountable. This frequently results in blame being redirected inward.

He has normalized loneliness in his life, making it difficult for him to put himself out there in terms of dating and friendships. Due to this loneliness, he is quick to form deep attachments, but keeps them quiet out of a fear of being needy or too much. He will excuse behavior from those he loves, even if the behavior is harmful to him. He has the tendency to interpret rejection as something he did wrong.

After reconnecting with Allanon and being dragged into his world, Elliot goes through a number of changes.
